Jacobs Farmhouse

Norwell Historical Society

Originally built in 1726 by Joshua Jacob, the Jacobs Farmhouse is home to the Norwell Historical Society’s Museum.  In 1840, the house was expanded when the Jacobs family grew and added another home onto the original 1700s structure.  Members of the Jacobs family lived in the house continually until the 1930s, when Dr. Henry Barton Jacobs bequeathed the house to Historic New England in his will.  In the 1980s, the house was purchased by the Town of Norwell (with a preservation restriction held by HNE), and today it serves as the headquarters of the Norwell Historical Society.
